Northern Italy
Northern Italy is an extremely varied territory, whose landscapes include the mountainous zones of the Alps and Apennines, the steep shores of the Ligurian Tyrrhenian sea and the grand beaches of the Adriatic sea, Padana Plains, area of the most extensive flatlands in Italy, the sweet hills of Veneto, and the zones of Piedmont and Lombardia, the area of the large Lakes with lakeside resorts, archaeological parks, spectacular gardens, great cities of art such as Venice, production centres which are also rich in art such as Milan, Turin, Bologna, port cities such as Genoa and Trieste, fascinating cities of art of mid-and-small dimensions, castles, fortresses, abbeys, villas....
Apart from being famous for its centres of art, culture, and religion, Northern Italy is also very rich in typical products, both wines and food. In fact, in Piedmont you will find very famous red wines such as the noble Barolo, Barbera, Grignolino, Dolcetto, Gattinara, Nebbiolo, white wines such as Cortese, Chardonnay Pinot, dessert wines like Asti, Moscato d'Asti, Brachetto Malvasia, to only mention a few; in Veneto there is a large variety of white wines in the Euganei Hills, Iberici Hills, and excellent red wines in Veronese, such as Bardolino or Soave, here too only to mention a few.
Both food-and-wine itineraries are continually organized, which can be added to those of characteristic cultural interest.
The entire area is endowed by characteristic rural accommodations, often near cities of art; with minimum organization, you can spend vacations which unite the advantages of city and of countryside.
