Ragusa Ibla
The most scenic location of Ragusa Ibla is certainly the piazza of the Duomo, going downhill, dominated from above by the majestic façade of the Baroque Duomo to the left of which the piazza is closed by the elegant Palazzo Arezzi, underpassed by a beautiful arch. The piazza is irregularly shaped and slightly leaning; it is surrounded by beautiful Classical and Baroque buildings. Going down the main axis, we find the other important piazza, Piazza Pola, dominated by the façade of the beautiful Baroque church of San Giuseppe, which, different from many Sicilian churches, in which a typical Classical layout corresponds to a façade overflowing with Baroque decorations, it has a curvilinear façade, elliptical layout and an internal volumetry more similar to that of Baroque churches in Central Italy. It is worth going around the town, going down little streets and alleyways, seeing other churches and buildings. Going down to the eastern limits of the city you will arrive at the Ibleo Garden, a lovely public garden realized in the 1800's within the church of San Giacomo Apostolo and the Cappuccini.
