A little obscured by the predominant presence of Rome and the footprints of its past, the rest of Lazio, however, offers many towns of great interest and a richly romantic countryside: a rural landscape full of woods and lakes, pastures and olive groves, hills and remains of the Roman Era.
Small and medium-sized historic centers, splendid villas from every era, from Villa Adriana to Villa d'Este, to Villa Lante of Bagnaia, Palazzo Farnese of Caprarola, to those of Frascati, castles, mythical gardens like the Oasis of Ninfa or the Garden of Monsters in Bomarzo, spiritual places such as the monasteries of Subiaco and the many Cistercian abbeys, cyclopean walls, mountain and marine natural parks, there's something for every taste.
